You might remember Jason McElwain from 2006. The young autistic man scored 20 points for his high school basketball team during the last three minutes of the last game of the season. Though he was the team manager, the coach put him in to give him the opportunity to be a part of the team. His success on the court touched many hearts, brought positive national exposure on the subject of autism, and inspired many people - both with and without autism.
Now, new commercials for Gatorade, who is trying for a new image as "G", puts McElwain side by side with a number of pro athletes like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.
What a wonderful way to feature a young man with autism! Kudos, Gatorade!
